JUMPING
1. Show jumping is a competition in which the combination of horse and rider are evaluated under different conditions throughout an obstacles course. It is test designed to show the freedom of the horse, its strength, loyalty and obedience during the jumping and riding qualities of the rider.
2. If the rider commits a mistake, such as dismantling of the obstacle, stopping, exceeding the time limit and so forth he is to be punished. The winner of an event is the rider, who has made the least mistakes, finishes the course in the shortest time or achieves the most points, depending on the type of event.
3. It is impossible to standardize an event in show jumping, as their diversity represent, for the competitors and spectators a valuable and interesting element that must be preserved at all costs.
4. Other events or variations of special events can be approved by the General Secretary, upon being agreed on with the Chairman of the show jumping committee, provided that their conditions are in accordance with the provisions of the General Rules and the Regulations of show jumping.
Detailed regulations of each event must be clearly specified in the ordinance and program of the event. The organizers have no right to announce an event without the approval of FEI on the terms under which these classes can be organized. Those initiators, who wish to organize events or international events for 5-year-old horses have to apply for permission from FEI through their national federations. The terms under, which these events can be organized, must be approved by FEI.
